YARN PLY
The term yarn ply indicates the number of strands twisted together to make a single yarn
strand. Although more plies give added strength, it does not always mean higher quality
yarn. More strands can add durability, but they decrease absorbency so it’s be琀琀er and
more cost e昀昀ec琀椀ve to choose a higher quality yarn than a high ply, low quality yarn.
TWIST
NARROW BAND
11⁄4" Width
The ''twist'' of a yarn is a result of how 琀椀ghtly the 昀椀ber strands are wound together.
A 琀椀ghtly twisted yarn might have more strength and last longer, but it can have less
absorbency. Just like yarn ply, the best choice isn’t determined by the yarn’s twist, but by
the type of quality of the yarn, as well as the mop’s construc琀椀on. Mops with loopedend
construc琀椀on allow the yarn to have a loose twist without the fraying.
CUT-END VS LOOPED-END MOPS

Cut-End
Cut-end mops are the most popular. They have a lower purchase price and are perceived
to be more economical. But because cut-end mops cannot be laundered, they are o昀琀en
thrown away before their lifespan is complete, making their ul琀椀mate cost higher.
They cover less area per pass when mopping. Cut-end mops fray and unravel with use and
have a tendency to leave behind loose strands and lint.
Looped-End
Outlast cut-end mops 8 to 1. Looped-end mops o昀昀er a superior performance and last
longer then cut-end style mops. Their tailband style gives be琀琀er mopping coverage and
the looped-ends prevent fraying and unraveling so you can enjoy reduced labor costs and
lower replacement cost. Although their ini琀椀al cost may be more expensive than a cut-end
style, their long-las琀椀ng use and be琀琀er mopping coverage ul琀椀mately make them a more
economical choice.
